Peru’s central bank has lowered its benchmark interest rate by 25bp to 3.75% due to a slowing economy and decreased inflation. The bank’s decision was widely expected among several analysts, especially after inflation eased to 2.73% last month, within the central bank’s 1% to 3% target range. Last month’s headline inflation rate was a three-year low for year-on-year in June, according to a report from Capital Economics.
