Editorial Assistant — Fixed-term Contract — New York

LatinFinance, the leading provider of value-added intelligence on the financial markets and economies of Latin America and the Caribbean, is seeking an ambitious graduate to join its editorial team in New York for a six-month fixed-term contract. This is a great opportunity to get hands-on insight into the workings of a digital newsroom at a niche publisher. 

The successful candidate will help research banks, companies, law firms and capital markets deals in Latin America and the Caribbean, coordinate correspondence with our readership on our awards and rankings, and maintain a database of transactions, as well as assisting the editorial team with background research and reporting. 

The editorial assistant will work as part of a small, fast-paced team, and will interact regularly with the most important companies, investors, banks and law firms in Latin America and the Caribbean. There is the potential for longer-term work at the end of the six-month contract. 

Key Skills - Qualifications & Experience
Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese
Excellent written and spoken English
Outstanding attention to detail
Demonstrated interest in financial markets
Demonstrated interest in journalism
Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines
Ability to work efficiently and independently

Reporter — Spanish or Portuguese speaker

The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years reportingexperience, proficiency in either Spanish or Portuguese, and, importantly, thedrive to learn and develop as a financial journalist. S/he will demonstrate aninterest in financial markets, the ability to build rapport with sources anddevelop a base of contacts, a flair for the written word and an understandingof the skills necessary to be successful in journalism.

The reporter will research and write about capital marketsactivity in Latin America and the Caribbean on a daily basis, as part of asmall, fast-paced team. The role involves daily interaction with the region’smost important companies, investors, banks and law firms. It also offers scopefor international travel, including attendance at LatinFinance eventsworldwide.
